As part of the refurbishment feature artwork by New York artist Miranda Lichtenstein has been incorporated to create a distinctive core space with an exciting, modern appeal.
Manufactured by American textile company Maharam, the Ito Wallpaper creates a distinctive space with an exciting, modern appeal, translating Miranda’s work into a wall-size installation.
Using photographs taken when residing in the fishing town of Ito-Japan as foundation, Lichtenstein shaped a moment between photography and painting. Still-life arrangements placed against a backdrop of handmade Japanese washi paper and Mylar (reflective polyester film). The result: a shift between abstract patterns and traditional stills, focused and distorted areas in a single pane.
